En estos días recordé unas palabras que me dijo uno de mis maestros hace muchos años: "Dios perdona el pecado, pero a menudo tendrás que vivir con las consecuencias del mismo."
Una erupción del Volcán de Pacaya y un día de lluvias continuas, gracias a la tormenta tropical Agatha, bastaron para sumir a Guatemala en el caos.
Hoy, al ver hacia atrás, encontramos una lección aplicable a la vida de todos (cristianos o no): El pecado, como una tormenta, sigue haciendo estragos aunque el sol ya haya salido. Y es que si trazamos una línea comparativa entre la tormenta y el pecado, y entre el sol y el perdón, también podemos hacerlo entre los destrozos generados por la inundación (consecuencia de la tormenta) y los daños causados por el pecado (en el trabajo, el ministerio, la familia, la vida, etc). La tormenta puede haber terminado, pero la inundación seguirá cobrando víctimas y haciendo destrozos por más tiempo.
Nuestro pecado pudo haber sido perdonado, pero es en ese punto en donde inicia el proceso de limpieza y reconstrucción. Es ahí en donde se debe recuperar la confianza, las relaciones, la reputación y, por último, la vida misma.
Después de la tormenta no siempre viene la calma, sino el verdadero trabajo para recuperar la verdadera calma. ¿Estás en ese punto? ¡No te rindas!

In these days I remembered some words that I heard from one of my teachers: 'God may forgive the sin, but often you'll have to live with its consequences.' One simple Pacaya Volcano eruption and a day of constant raining, thanks to the Agatha storm, were enough to get Guatemala in chaos.
Today, looking back, we can find a lesson that is useful for anyone (christian or not): The sin, like a storm, may keep destroying everything even if the sun has risen.
You see, if we draw a 'comparison line' between the storm and the sin, and between the sun and forgiveness, well, we can draw that line too between the flood destruction (consequence of the storm) and the damages left behind by a sinful behavior (at work, in the ministry, family, life, etc). The storm might be over, but the flood can keep tearing lives apart for a while.
In the same way, our sin might have been forgiven but that's just the starting point for the cleaning and reconstruction works. That's the starting point for the recovery of trust,relationships, reputation and, ultimately, life.
After the storm won't necessarily come the calm, but more likely the hard work that will reach that real calm. Are you in that point? Don't give up!
